Challenges in Industrialization of Directed Energy Deposition Workshop

The 2-day in-person workshop will bring together subject matter experts from national laboratories, industry, academia, and standard bodies to accelerate the development, qualification, demonstration and deployment of directed energy deposition additive manufacturing. This workshop will explore technical challenges in directed energy deposition, opportunities to advance the technology and barriers to widespread adoption by industry.

This workshop will include plenary presentations, panel sessions, and will offer a tour of the Manufacturing Demonstration Facility (MDF). Please plan to attend the in-person workshop which begins on Thursday, May 25 and concludes on Friday.

A draft agenda will be released shortly.

Workshop Objective

Identify platform agnostic challenges associated with the technology and develop a strategy to derisk the technology platform for adoption.  This workshop will be used to develop the Strategic Operating Plan for the directed energy deposition technologies moving forward.
